The pelican you see performing here already has 2 other fish in his gular, ready to swallow! He is happy for the tide rusing into Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, because it is bringing lots of breakfast. For him and the many others water birds around him, the fishing was superb.

From sunrise Monday morning, for 3 hours there was plenty to see and photo, much of it entertaining. Add the presence of the White-tailed Kite which made the experience extra special for my first visit Fall of 2024.

In the gallery below: Black-crowned Night Herons, Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, White-faced Ibis, American Kestrel, White-tailed Kite, Osprey, Brown and White Pelicans, Snowy Egrets, Terns, and a Willet.

Enjoy,

Steve
